Description
After a long run, a hard workout or a day at a desk, muscles feel tight. A foam roller helps loosen them. Physical therapists and trainers often call it self-massage.
The roller is 33 centimeters long and 14 centimeters across. It is made of firm EVA foam. It doesn’t flatten under your weight, so the pressure stays steady.
The surface has a raised grid pattern. The ridges press a little deeper into the muscle than a smooth roller, which helps with tight spots.
Here is how to use it. Place the roller on the floor. Lay the muscle you want to treat on top, for example your calf. Use your arms to support yourself, and roll slowly back and forth. When you find a tight spot, stop there for twenty to thirty seconds and breathe.
Good areas to roll are the calves, the front and back of the thighs, the outside of the legs, the buttocks and the upper back. Don’t roll your lower back or directly over joints.
Rolling may feel uncomfortable, but it shouldn’t hurt. Ease off if it does.
Use it on the yoga mat 6 mm. Wipe it clean after use.
