Description
Not every job needs a large board. For slicing a lemon, cutting a piece of cheese or serving bread at the table, a small board is quicker and easier to clean.
This board is made of solid oak. Oak is a hard wood with a strong grain. It doesn’t dent easily from knives, and it looks beautiful. Over the years, it grows a little darker and warmer in color.
The board measures 30 by 20 centimeters. That is large enough for a loaf of bread or a cheese board for two, and small enough to store in a drawer.
At one end is a handle with a hole. Carry the board to the table by the handle, or hang it on a hook in the kitchen. Hanging boards dry well on both sides.
Wash the board by hand with warm water and a little soap, and let it dry standing up. Never put it in the dishwasher: the heat and water make wood crack.
Rub it with a little food-safe oil once a month. That keeps the wood from drying out and makes the grain stand out.
For bigger jobs, use the bamboo cutting board, large, with a juice groove.
