Description
Bamboo grows fast and is very hard. That makes it a good material for a cutting board. A soft wood gets deep cuts from a knife, and water and bits of food collect in those cuts. Bamboo gets fewer of them.
This board measures 38 by 28 centimeters. That is large enough to cut a whole loaf, carve a roast chicken, or chop a pile of vegetables for soup without everything falling off the side.
A groove runs around the edge. It catches the juice of meat, the water from cut tomatoes, or the drip from a melon. The juice stays on the board and doesn’t run over your counter.
Use the side with the groove for meat and juicy fruit. Use the flat side for bread and cheese.
Wash the board by hand with warm water and a little dish soap. Let it dry standing on its side. Don’t put it in the dishwasher and don’t leave it soaking in water: wood that stays wet for too long can crack.
Once a month, rub the board with a little cooking oil. The oil keeps the bamboo from drying out and keeps the surface smooth.
A good partner for the chef’s knife 20 cm.
