Description
A raised bed makes vegetable gardening easier. The soil is higher, so you bend less. It drains well and warms up faster in spring, so you can start sowing earlier. And it keeps the garden tidy.
This raised bed is made of cedar wood. Cedar contains natural oils that protect it against rot and insects. It doesn’t need paint or treatment. Over the years, it turns a soft silver gray.
The bed is 40 centimeters high. Choose from two sizes: 80 by 80 centimeters, or 120 by 80 centimeters. Both are narrow enough to reach the middle from the side, so you never need to step on the soil.
The planks slide into each other at the corners. Assembly takes about fifteen minutes and needs no tools or screws.
Place the bed on a sunny spot. Lay cardboard on the bottom to stop weeds, then fill it with a mix of garden soil and compost. Compost from the compost bin 300 liters works well.
Good plants for a raised bed are lettuce, radishes, herbs, strawberries, beans and small tomatoes.
Water more often than in the open ground, because a raised bed dries out faster.
Start your plants in the seed trays, 5 pieces.
