Description
A fire in the garden turns a cool evening into a warm one. This fire pit is made to last for years.
It is made of steel three millimeters thick. Thin steel warps in the heat of a fire. After a few evenings, it bends and cracks. Thick steel stays in shape.
The steel is untreated. When you first use it, it has a dark gray color. After a few weeks outside, it starts to rust on the outside. The rust forms an even, warm brown layer. That layer protects the metal underneath, so it doesn’t rust through. Many people like the look of it.
Note: in the first weeks, rust water can stain light stone. Place the pit on gravel or on a metal plate at first.
The pit stands on legs. The legs keep the hot bottom off the ground, so your tiles or grass don’t get burned.
The diameter is 60 centimeters. That is big enough for a good fire and room for four to six people around it.
Use dry wood. Wet wood smokes. Never use gasoline to start the fire.
Let the ashes cool fully before you empty the pit.
