Description
A good bread knife saws, it doesn’t press. The Steenwijck bread knife has a serrated blade of 22 centimeters that cuts through a crisp crust with a few easy strokes.
The teeth are deep and wide. Each tooth grips the crust and cuts a small piece. Because you don’t need to press, the soft inside of the bread isn’t crushed. Your slices stay round and even.
The length matters. A short bread knife doesn’t reach across a large loaf, so you cut from both sides and get a crooked slice. Twenty-two centimeters reaches across almost any loaf.
The blade is hardened steel, the same as the other Steenwijck knives. It runs all the way through the handle. The knife is well balanced and feels steady in your hand.
The bread knife is also good for other foods with a hard outside and a soft inside: ripe tomatoes, a pineapple, or a layered cake.
Serrated blades stay sharp for a long time, because the points of the teeth do the cutting.
Wash by hand and dry at once.
The bread knife is also part of the Steenwijck knife set, 5 pieces, with wooden block.
