Description
Most of the dirt in a home comes in on shoes. A good doormat stops it at the door.
This mat is made of coir. Coir is the fiber from the outer shell of a coconut. It is one of the hardest natural fibers. When you wipe your feet on it, the stiff fibers brush sand, grit and mud out of the tread of your soles.
The backing is rubber. It keeps the mat in place, so it doesn’t slide when you wipe your feet. It also stops water from reaching the floor underneath. A wet mat doesn’t leave a damp patch on your tiles or wood.
The mat measures 40 by 60 centimeters. That fits in front of most front doors.
To clean it, lift it and shake it out or beat it against a wall. The dirt falls out of the fibers. Do this once a week, or more in autumn and winter.
Coir is natural and does best in a covered spot, out of heavy rain. In full rain, it takes long to dry.
For a mat that handles rain and snow, see the rubber doormat 50 x 80.
Inside, the shoe rack with 3 tiers holds the shoes.
