Description
A laundry basket stands in view every day, so it may as well look good. This one is woven by hand from seagrass, a natural fiber with a warm, light brown color.
Seagrass is stiff. A basket made from it stays upright and keeps its shape, also when it is only half full. A fabric basket sags in on itself.
The basket holds 55 liters. That is about one full load for the washing machine. Two handles at the top let you carry it to the machine.
Inside is a liner of cotton. It keeps small items, like socks, from getting caught in the weave. The liner is held in place by ties. Untie it, and it can go into the washing machine at thirty degrees.
Woven seagrass lets air pass through. Damp towels and sports clothes can dry out a little while they wait, and they don’t start to smell musty. Even so, it is best to let very wet laundry dry first.
Keep the basket out of the shower. Splashes of water are no problem, but standing water is.
Pairs well with the wooden clothes hangers, set of 20.
