Description
This set holds four espresso cups in matte black stoneware, each on a light saucer. The contrast looks good on a wooden table and makes the crema easy to see.
Each cup holds 90 ml. That is room for a double espresso, or a single with a splash of milk. The outside is matte and pleasant to hold. The inside is glazed smooth, which matters more than it seems: coffee leaves a brown film on a rough surface, and on this glaze it comes off with one rinse.
The cups have a broad base and a low shape. They stand firmly and don’t tip when you put them on a tray together. The saucers have a raised ring that keeps each cup in place.
Stoneware is fired at a high temperature, so it is strong and holds heat well. Warm the cups with hot water before you pour, and your espresso stays at drinking temperature for longer.
The set is dishwasher safe. Stack the cups upside down on the top rack to keep the glaze bright.
