Description
Before you drill into a wall, you want to know what is behind it. A stud finder tells you.
In walls made of drywall, the panels are fixed to wooden or metal studs. To hang something heavy, like a TV, a large mirror or a kitchen cabinet, you want to screw into a stud. Plain drywall holds much less weight.
Hold the stud finder flat against the wall and press the button. Slide it slowly sideways. When it reaches the edge of a stud, the display shows it and it beeps. Keep sliding, and it shows where the stud ends. The middle is where you drill.
It detects wood and metal up to 38 millimeters deep.
The stud finder also warns of live electrical wires. A warning light shows when there is a wire behind the wall. Never drill where it warns. Even so, wires don’t always run where you expect, so always take care.
At the top is a small notch. Hold a pencil in it to mark the spot on the wall.
It runs on a 9 volt battery.
Then measure and mark with the spirit level 60 cm or the cross line laser with tripod.
