Description
A compost bin turns peels, coffee grounds, leaves and grass clippings into dark, rich soil. It costs nothing to run, and your garden gets better with every season.
This bin holds 300 liters. That is a good size for a family with a small to medium garden.
The panels click together without screws or tools. The bin is ready in about fifteen minutes. Place it directly on soil, not on tiles, so worms and other helpers can come in from below.
Openings in the sides let air in. Compost needs oxygen. Without air, the waste rots and smells. With air, it breaks down cleanly and smells like a forest floor.
Add green and brown material in turns. Green is kitchen waste and fresh grass. Brown is dry leaves, small twigs and torn cardboard.
At the bottom is a hatch. After six to twelve months, the oldest compost at the bottom is ready. Open the hatch and scoop it out, while new waste keeps going in at the top.
The lid locks on, so wind and animals stay out.
