Description
Combination pliers do three jobs in one tool. That is why they are in almost every toolbox.
The front of the jaws is flat and serrated. It grips flat things, like a sheet of metal or a bent nail, and holds them firmly.
Just behind that is a rounded part. It grips round things, like a pipe, a bolt or a cable, without slipping.
Near the hinge sits the side cutter. It cuts copper wire, steel wire and thin nails. Place the wire deep in the cutter, close to the hinge. That is where you have the most force.
The handles are insulated up to 1000 volt. That gives extra safety when you work on electrics. Even so, the rule stays: switch off the power first and check that it is off. Insulation is a backup, not a replacement.
The hinge is fitted tightly. Cheap pliers develop play in the hinge, and the jaws no longer meet properly. These stay precise.
The length is 180 millimeters. That fits in most hands and gives enough leverage to cut wire without strain.
