Description
Scratching is natural for cats. It keeps their claws in shape, stretches their muscles and marks their territory. If they don’t have a good place to scratch, they choose your sofa. A scratching post gives them a better choice.
The column is wrapped in sisal rope. Sisal is a rough, strong natural fiber. Cats love the feel of it under their claws. It doesn’t fray quickly.
The post is 80 centimeters high. That matters more than people think. A cat wants to stretch out fully when it scratches, standing on its back legs with its front legs high. On a short post, it can’t, and it goes back to the sofa.
The base is heavy and wide. When a cat scratches with force, the post doesn’t wobble or tip over. A post that wobbles scares cats away.
On top is a small platform covered in soft plush. Cats like to sit high and watch the room.
A toy hangs from the platform on a string.
Place the post near the spot your cat scratches now, or near where it sleeps. Cats often scratch right after they wake up.
Rub a little catnip on the sisal to make it more attractive.
More play: the cat toy fishing rod.
