Description
For a hedge in a normal garden, you don’t need a machine. The Hoogmaat hand hedge shears are quiet, light and precise.
The lower blade has a wavy edge. When you close the shears, the waves catch the twigs and hold them, so the straight upper blade cuts them cleanly. With straight blades, twigs often slip away toward the tip.
The handles are made of aluminum. That makes the shears light: you can work above shoulder height without your arms getting tired quickly.
Near the hinge sits a rubber shock absorber. Every time the handles close, it softens the impact. On a long hedge, you close the shears hundreds of times, and your wrists feel the difference.
The shears are 65 centimeters long. That gives you reach into the hedge and over the top.
Cut a hedge so it is slightly narrower at the top than at the bottom. Light then reaches the lower branches and the hedge stays green all the way down.
Clean the blades after use and add a drop of oil to the hinge.
For single branches, use the Hoogmaat bypass pruning shears.
