Description
Many wool hats itch. This beanie is made of merino wool, which feels soft even on your forehead.
Merino comes from merino sheep. The fibers are much thinner than those of ordinary wool. Thin fibers bend when they touch your skin, so they don’t prickle. Thick fibers poke.
Merino is also warm for its weight. This beanie is thin, but it keeps your head warm on a cold day. It absorbs sweat and lets it evaporate, so you don’t get a damp head when you walk or cycle hard.
The cuff folds over. Where it folds, there are two layers of wool. That double layer sits right over your ears, where you feel the cold most.
Because the beanie is thin, it fits under a bike helmet or a ski helmet. It doesn’t bunch up or push the helmet out of place.
Merino resists odors, so you can wear it for days without washing it.
When you do wash it, use cold water and wool detergent, and dry it flat.
